A PLACE (FOR EVERYONE) AT THE TABLE

Updated: Sep 19, 2019

I can't stop thinking about a 27 year old woman named Maggie Kane who was reported about on the Today Show a few months ago. Maggie opened a restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina. The amazing thing is that she allows customers to pay what they’re able to. She does this in order to help those who are struggling.

While critics said the idea would never work, Maggie has given away almost 7,000 meals to those in need in one year alone. The food is fresh and delicious and 80% of the customers pay the suggested full price or more. College students work there in order to get a free meal, and people can buy tokens for someone in need. She also hands out free tokens throughout their town.

It said that Maggie has always done volunteer work and believes that her calling is to make people feel valued. Check out their website here and watch the Today Show segment when you get a minute. Trust me, it is worth seeing!

This girl is an inspiration to us all. Remember her name, I'm sure we'll be hearing more about her in the future. Although most people can't be as fantastic as Maggie, we should all do a little "Random Act of Kindness" whenever we can.
