If you're like me (Lauren doesn't need any help in this area, since she is a fantastic cleaner and organizer), you sometimes, don't bother to fix something that is easily fixable - instead you deal with the nagging item day after day after day. My new mantra is this:
If something takes 5 minutes or less: Do It Immediately!
For some things if you are just organized and have, for example, cleaning products in most rooms, you can spray those fingerprints on the window or fridge door in two minutes instead of being annoyed every time you look at them. Or instead of just noticing the toothpaste smear in the sink, take a wet wipe and wipe it out. I mean really how long does that take? Or how by spending a few minutes before bed or first thing in the morning putting things away, how much less stressed your day will be. There is nothing better after a long work day to come home to an organized place.
I am also going to start keeping a cheat sheet broken down by 5, 10 and 15 minute segments - things that can easily be accomplished so that when I don't feel like cleaning the whole house, I can at least accomplish a quick chore that will no longer bug me.
You will be amazed at how fast these tiny fixes can add up after a few days, and how much happier you will be when you have less little irritants in your life. It will even free up your weekends to have a bit of fun!
