Chicagoans, like the rest of the US, love their 4th of July Celebrations. It’s a time to not only thank this great nation, but also to feel like summer has really arrived. Below are some suggestions for how you can enjoy your holiday even more!


Chicago - Navy Pier

The Pier will proudly present the Navy Band Great Lakes Wind Ensemble on Wednesday, July 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Stage in Polk Bros Park . Free and open to the public.


Everyone is invited to enjoy a remarkable Fourth complete with live music in the Miller Lite Beer Garden and the Pier's 4th of July Fireworks Presented by Miller Lite on Thursday, July 4. As the city's only lakefront fireworks show, Navy Pier will be at the epicenter of the city's Independence Day festivities, with an extraordinary 15‐minute fireworks display synchronized to patriotic music.


Navy Pier's boating partners will also offer cruises throughout the day and during the fireworks display for an unparalleled viewing experience. Starting at 2 p.m., free live music will be offered at the Miller Lite Beer Garden. The 4th of July Fireworks Presented by Miller Lite will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Other Nearby Suburbs


Burr Ridge

The Pleasant Dale Park District will host a fireworks show around 9:15 p.m., July 3 in Walker Park, at 7425 S. Wolf Road, Burr Ridge, (weather permitting). Food vendors start selling snacks and non-alcoholic beverages at 5:30 p.m. and a bouncy house for children will be open. Parking on the grass is $10 per vehicle.


Downers Grove/Woodridge/Darien Will hold its annual Fourth of July Celebration and Parade at 1 p.m. on July 4. The parade will step off from Grant and Main Streets and make its way south on Main Street before it comes to a stop at Warren Avenue. The Fireworks show will be held around 9:30 p.m. at the corner of 75th and Lemont.


Hinsdale

Hinsdale’s Independence Day Celebration begins with a parade at 10 a.m. July 4 starting at Sixth and Garfield streets, going north on Garfield to First Street, west on First to Grant Street and back south on Grant to Sixth. Participants will include three marching bands, the Medinah Car Club, members of the 104th Voluntary Infantry, clowns, the Flat 43 BMX team doing tricks on bicycles, and vintage cars.


The free family festival in Burlington Park, at 30 E. Chicago Ave., begins at 11 a.m. The fest features carnival games, an arts and crafts fair, an inflatable slide, a child size Ferris Wheel and the Hinsdale Rotary Club’s traditional live turtle races. The West Suburban Concert Band will play at 1 p.m.


Also the Hinsdale Golf Club, a private club at 140 Chicago Ave. in Clarendon Hills, shoots off fireworks at 9:30 p.m. July 4. The public is welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets and watch the show from Prospect Park, on Norfolk and Oxford avenues, behind Clarendon Hills Middle School.


Lisle - Eyes To The Skies This annual festival runs July 4-6 with fireworks all 3 days at 9:45 pm and the carnival runs July 3-7. This annual summer event includes hot air balloons, two stages of music, a large interactive children's area, more than 30 different food vendors, a carnival, a craft fair, and many other forms of entertainment. Located at Lisle Community Park on Short Street. Admission is around $10. Carnival tickets & wristbands are sold separately.


Oak Brook

The Village will once again be hosting the Taste of Oak Brook, on Wednesday, July 3rd from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the Oak Brook Sports Core grounds. The event will feature cuisine from some of Oak Brook’s finest restaurants, a beverage tent, and children’s activities. The event will conclude with fireworks beginning at dusk (approx. 9:00 p.m.), which can be viewed via free open seating on Oak Brook Polo Fields. The rain date for fireworks (only) is Thursday, July 4th. Parking will be available for a fee of $20.00 per vehicle.

Westmont

There will be bigger and better fireworks than ever before! The family fun begins at 4:00 pm until 10 pm at their old-fashioned Independence Day Celebration located at Ty Warner Park – 801 Burr Oak Drive. This includes food, games, beer and live music. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for this free celebration and enjoy the best 4th of July around!
